岡崎ゆみ。東京藝術大学卒業、同大学院修了。1983年ハンガリー政府給費留学試験に最優秀で合格し、ハンガリー国立リスト音楽院に留学。帰国後、1986年朝日新聞主催第６回「新人音楽コンクール」ピアノ部門に優勝。文部大臣賞を受賞。テレビ、ラジオ番組で司会を務め、演奏家としての評価に加え独特の雰囲気で会場を 盛り上げ緩急をつけた巧みなトークで司会者としても各方面から注目を集める。
常に聴衆の立場に立ち、高い演奏と楽しめるステージ構成のコンサートは「エレガントな雰囲気の中で素敵な音楽をたくさん聴けた」と観客から大好評を博している。2002年のデビュー15周年記念リサイタルでは『マクベス夫人』と題する音楽劇を歌舞伎役者、中村梅玉共演で公演で絶賛される。また、子供の教育にも熱心で幼児のためのコンサート活動やピアノレッスン「岡崎コンセルバトワール」を主宰している。現在(財)ソニー教育財団評議員も務めている。2003年よりSony Music Artists と契約。

Yumi Okazaki graduated for Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music after which she completed graduate school. In 1983 she passed the Hungarian national scholarship exam with the highest honors, and studied at the National Liszt Academy of Music.
In 1986 she won the first prize in the piano section of Asahi Shinbun’s 5th Music Competition.　She has won numerous awards, including the Ministry of Education Minister’s Award, and her numerous recitals in Japan and overseas have been very well received.
Among her activities, “Concert for babies” which she provides for pregnant women, and “Concert for Kids” which she provides for children from 0 years old, are highly appreciated in Japan as a unique concert.
She always care for the audience enjoy classical music as much as possible.
In 2002 she had another unique concert at which she performed “Lady Macbeth” as an actress while playing piano on the same stage. A leading Kabuki actor Baigyoku Nakamura took Macbeth’s roll. The audience and critics gave the biggest appreciation for this new world of classic music concert.

With the same director as “Lady Macbeth”play, she started new music stage play “Gold Note” for children. The story is about mother and son who departed for the mysterious tour to find the miracle gold note. Lots of beautiful classic pieces are performed by piano&violin during this play.
In addition to activities as a pianist, Yumi Okazaki has performed as a television host and radio personality, and has written a variety of essays.
Her CD “An evening of Walzes”, ”Concert for babies” and “Berceuse” are now on sale (Sony Records).
